Sayan completed his bachelor's in Biochemistry at the Asutosh College in Kolkata,West Bengal, India. In 2023 he completed his Master's Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. During his Master’s, he worked on a dissertation project trying to characterize the physico-chemical properties of potent anti-cancer homeopathic drugs. In 2024, he joined Dr. Somdeb Bose Dasgupta’s lab as a project trainee, investigating pathogenesis and host-pathogen interactions. In 2026, he joined the Stolz lab on an SFB1177 scholarship to study regulatory mechanisms and dynamics of ER-phagy receptor clustering.
